I tend to reach academically, so quite of that isn't available in my library at least. I do borrow from my University library but that will end soon once I graduate. I would use the library if I read fiction but I don't tend to.

I stopped buying books 20 yrs ago or more, I'm a library fiend. I, too, would check out a library before I moved. Before I got sick I read 2-3 books a week, I'm a lot slower now so it's more like 1-2 a month, I hate that. But I always read book and independent film reviews then request them online through interlibrary loan (the best thing ever invented) and pick them up a few weeks later or less, less than 2 miles from our house. Our library doesn't have a great e-library, mostly NYT bestsellers and the like, so I don't use that much. I use Flipster for free magazines on my iPad. The best part is they've really improved their large print acquisitions. I attend classes like sessions on how Medicare works, those were really helpful. Love, love, love libraries. When I packed up the library bag, my kids used to groan, "we know, we know, we're going to the greatest place on Earth," lol.

love it for everything. Just checked out another book. And my kids love it too. We have books for them but they understand that we don't buy nearly the quantity that we borrow. And that I NEVER buy books. Why should i?

I will admit to pay $1.99 to kindle unlimited to try it for 3 months but meh. I am too cheap to pay $9.99/month and the library is more than enough.

I used to spend A LOT of time at the library, studying about whatever my life’s pursuit was at that moment.

In high school I was a magician, and spent many hours studying books of magic and I even did an occasional show at the library for local kids.

I wore the covers off of those library magic books, checking them out over and over for years. That was a special time in my life.

                LOVE our library

I use our library constantly - and adore that I can check out eBooks for my Kindle. I used to use it more for movies, but with so many options out there now I've gotten away from that. I do, however, also check out regular books and audiobooks for long car rides. Saves so much money if you're an avid reader. It floors me when I meet people who read a lot and don't utilize such an amazing resource.

We are huge users of the library. DH is retired from there. We check out magazines, books, and DVD's. I use the local history room for some of my genealogy work.

On our checkout slip they have how much we have saved by checking things out. I think I'm way over $1000 so far this year. Kind of an added feature that is nice.

I like to go to the library when I can, which isn't often anymore since I don't drive.

But for kindle fire lovers, you might want to be aware that a lot of libraries have a e-book system now. Mine uses CloudLibrary. You might want to look up your library's website and see what you'd have to do to utilize it and what apps n' stuff; CloudLibrary you have to mod your Kindle so you have Android Play on it (not hard, and you do not have to root it. Just some minor monkey business, that's all, and it's not hard to find out how with a quick Google.). For those that would rather read on a kindle, it's a boon. Be aware tho, at least with our library, the virtual library and the real one don't have the same things, and you have to watch out for audio books if you just want to read.

So yeah, I strongly suggest that kindle lovers check their local library's website on a PC or something and find out if your library has ebooks and what app they use!
