We usually take standard deduction on our taxes. The interest on our mortgage, real estate taxes, and other things are way less than the standard. I know, it is possible to write of donations, when you itemize. We just got the receipt from our church for our donation for the year. So I have a question, can we get a write-off on it if we take standard deduction? Is there a list, what things can be itemized. What write-offs can we get if we take standard deduction. Thank you for your help.

You cannot itemize if you take the standard deduction. However, you can still write off charitable contributions.

No, you can't. The only place they go is on Schedule A Itemized Deductions.Originally posted by Koolmagicguy View Posthttps://www.irs.gov/taxtopics/tc551.html
