I rent, so I know I could call my landlord, but I'd really like to avoid doing that unless I just can't take care of it myself.
I am having plumbing issues.
My kitchen sink was completely plugged up a few months ago - I did have the landlord send someone over with a drain snake and unplugged it. It now seems to be plugged, or at least slow to drain again - and the garbage disposal is not working anymore. I know to never run it without water running - but I'm not sure if the filter thing on my sink faucet makes it so the water wasn't running forcefully enough?
My toilet is also giving me issues. Every time I use it, I have to stand there and hold down the handle until I hear the water finish. Then check to see that everything actually went down. 1 out of 3 times I end up having to flush again. (I put the lid down when I flush.)
My bathroom sink was causing me problems too - being slow to drain. I got a Zip it device (rec'd by someone on the blogs) and that seemed to help somewhat.
(Bathroom sink issue caused by hair - I have about shoulder length hair.)
Now my biggest issue ... the bathtub.
It also was slow to drain. I used the Zipit on it, and pulled up *some* stuff, but not enough to cause blockage.
Now though it seems to not want to drain at all.
The last two or three showers I've ended up with standing water up to 1" away from my knee. It did eventually drain. My bf used it Thursday night, and there was at least 2" of water still in the tub Saturday morning.
I've tried using the Zip it, but am not pulling up anything.
There is this flat knob thing under the faucet which I *think* is for closing the drain so you can use it as a bath. I've been able to get the tub to drain by messing with that - but there is no clear indication / click/etc to show what is open/closed.
Anyway ... I'm wondering what the best thing to do about all this is? Probably the bathtub thing I have to call the landlord about ... but is there something I can do myself for the other things?
