  • How do you relax (frugally)?

What are some things you find relaxing that don't stress your budget. Here's what I do. I can explain in more detail if you'd like. I'd love to learn about new ways to relax as well:
    1. Cycling through nice neighborhoods (really relaxing, especially in the evenings)
    2. Cleaning/working on my car. I don't drive my car much so it never really gets too dirty or too broken down. So there's no great pressure for me to work fast. I enjoy this. And I'm adding value to the car so that's a huge bonus
    3. Walking. Sometimes I'll walk instead of bike ride. Again, I like walking through nice neighborhoods where I can admire the manicured yards and well thought out architecture
    4. DIY pedicures. I'm a man but these are great! Really relaxing doing a foot soak while watching YouTube haha
    5. Cleaning. Cleaning anything I own and admire is relaxing to me.
    6. Cooking something healthy and tasty that doesn't leave the kitchen in too big of a mess

    Lot's of ways.
    • On nice summer evenings I enjoy just sitting out in lawn chairs, having a couple drinks while cooking on the grill.
    • Garden, farm and yard work is both relaxing and rewarding.
    • I can hunt and fish pretty much in the back yard and enjoy that tremendously.
    • Taking the dog for a walk and bringing her back all muddy, wet and tired.
    • A good bonfire with family or friends.
    • Tinkering ... fabricating, building and fixing various things in my shop.

      Bicycling through the woods
      Walking through the woods
      Gardening, weeding, mowing, raking
      Walking the dogs
      Washing the dogs
      Cutting the dogs hair
      Cutting my own hair
      Cleaning the house
      Fixing things myself
Reading, watching, listening to, and writing free content on the Internet
      Cooking for myself, friends, family
      Talking with friends and family

That's what life is about: the simple, basic stuff that costs nothing. Everything else is bullsh|t pushed in us by industries trying to maximize profits at the expense of our health, happiness, and success.

do you have a long-haired dog? I adopted my friend's mother's dog as she was sick, I should've looked at him and asked about the grooming, but I never had a dog that needed that so it didn't occur to me and I would've taken him anyways. But his grooming is $56! 5x what I pay for my haircuts! so I often get him shaved to lengthen the time between groomings.

I thought I could learn but researched it and right now I cannot safely do that. DS offered if I buy a dog shaver, he won't use the human one that's been in the basement forever. I just don't want to waste money on that if it turns out it is not easily done at home.

Do you happen to have any tips? I have a large Cavalier King Charles spaniel with a beautiful long red coat. Oh and in the nice months, he gets full of prickers from these plants that will not die. So shaving makes sense

It's funny that you like washing your dogs. My best dog ever, Bernice, was horribly abused. She is so scared of a bath, she cowers and whimpers and shakes. She has short hair, we made a deal, baths if she smells, like it or not, lol. But it is honestly my least favorite chore because I know she is not trusting me during it and I cannot stand how upset she gets.

I go to the gym several days a week.

I also enjoy working around the house. Either doing yard work or tinkering around in the garage.

I enjoy working on my car. Simple things such as changing its oil, cleaning the interior, or replacing a part that is wearing out. It's hard, frustrating work sometimes but I enjoy it.

Sport helps me keep fit and relax after a rough day. I am keen on foorball or bassketball. I’m a big fitness fan yet. I work out in the gym three or four times a week. Sometimes, I have a rest near a computer)) I include games through proxies advanced.name/ and I play Battlefield

I play my flute and sew. The husband and I take walks, play with the dogs, sit on our deck with cocktails, cook, watch tv, swim in the pool.

One cheap way in my area is there's a HUGE 4-storey bookstore I can read books in. It's also near a park, and the place is good for taking a quick stroll.

Aside from that, I grab a cup of green tea from a local coffee shop, and refill it with hot water for up to three infusions (not exactly free, but it's worth the bang for the buck). Works for me since my house is generally very noisy so I go out to relax and read a good book.

What else... surfing the internet is one way! Haha! So is not going out and staying home.
