mostly, i will just use them as a rug, I wouldn't wear a teared cloth outside of home.

My jeans usually wear out around the knees and cuffs, and when they get holes, they get used for oil changes or other dirty work. The problems with holes is that they become unprotected areas, and also can get snagged on branches.

not visible clothing because of THIS man. For the first time ever I had a massive health crisis and was in the hospital. My dear old dad was on his way to visit me, fell in the driveway, ended up in ICU with 3 brain bleeds. He wears this pair of jeans that have to be 15 years old, they have pleats! He was wearing them when he fell, huge holes. Worried about his brain, no one took the opportunity to finally get rid of these hideous jeans. Had I been home, it would've been 1) bury jeans deep in trash can then 2) visit him in ICU.

So despite not being poor that he can't afford a new pair of jeans every decade and he has nice reasonably priced options in his closet that we have bought for him (these piles are his "good" clothes, but "good" never happens), he is wearing these jeans everywhere. Usually with the bright purple and gold sweatshirt he bought at my college when I first toured it. So it's going on 30 years and does not cover his belly anymore. Add white socks and vinyl faux Birkenstocks and he is good to go. Oh and a baseball hat advertising some random company he got for free.

I cannot drive yet so he takes me to MD appts, almost always in that outfit. He's tried to leave the house in the jeans, an undershirt that is no longer white, suspenders for added flair? and the white socks and sandals. I told him if he wore that, he should lie down on the ground while I'm in appts, people give dollar bills to homeless vets.

oh and he also lost a front tooth in the fall, somehow so badly that it will take 9 months of dentistry to fix. So picture the above, add in the missing tooth and that is why I will not wear clothes with holes in them.

he tries to wear these items when he volunteers at hospice weekly, where I worked for 10 yrs. I have to beg him, create a fictional dress code that the people at the front desk are in on because he asked if there really was a dress code or if I was making it up? Everyone there loves my dad, they would find his ensemble "cute", but not happening on my watch.

however, never say never, he's had a lot of fun knowingly humiliating his kids. I am keeping the outfits my teen deems "OMG, OMG, please mom, NO!" now, just to see how she feels about me trotting them out when she is 45. Can't wait!
