It depends on whose standards you compare me against. If you are comparing me to my mother-in-law I am high maintenance. She wears sweats to work. I wear business/business casual. I own more than one skirt and one pair of heels. Comes with the territory of having a job in business. She is a caretaker at a home with mentally disabled.

If you compare me to my mom, I am a low maintenance kind of chick. She used to accompany me on business trips. One trip, she forgot her cosmetics, so we had to go 2 hours to her house to get it before we started our 6-hr drive. If I go to her house to stay the night I might bring a toothbrush of my own and borrow her clothes since we are the same size, but she brings 2-3 bags to my home and she already keeps quite a bit of beauty supplies here. I love her to death though!

I USED to get my nails done, USED to get pedis, USED to buy clothes, jewelry, etc. I ditched all that when I became a homeowner. Don't ask me why, other than I just realized that I don't need all that. Maturity I guess. At 27, my financial habits are completely different than how I was at 23 years old!

PS - My wedding is one week and two days away!!! I will for sure be high maintenance that day!

I forgot to mention that when I gave up all that high maintenance stuff, I also lost 30 lbs (when I decided to live a disciplined life and not be so self-indulgent). I actually look much better now than I did when I was high maintenance!

i guess im more like..low cost high maintence..i like to look nice if i go out or to work. but..i cringed when my mom bought me a new dress last week for $60. but i love the dress, and its the first new thing ive had in months. i have lots of clothes and i get most of them cheap. i have lots of makeup, but ive got them cheaper. but mom also got my hair done for my birthday..it cost her about 100 for a perm and a cut. but i wont have to have my hair done again for about 2 yrs.ill let it all grow back out and donate it again to locks of love. so im saying, im med maintence.

Definitely not... With kids it's hard to find the money and motivation to spend on clothes and looks, you can always find something more important! But when I go out of the house I try to scrub-up as best I can...

Ray, that is funny about your socks not matching. I only buy one color, black, to wear in the winter to keep my feet warm.
One thing I would have to go and buy if I was traveling and left it at home, is cold cream. I have been washing my face and putting cold cream on it since I was 15. I don't know if it has helped, but I could pass for 10 years younger.

I keep pushing back the age where I will start wearing make up on a regular basis. I earned my grey highlights. If you are looking hard enough and close enough to see my wrinkles then you had better be closely related or my DH may have something to say to you. My wardrode is getting a much needed remake as I sew and have been given or inherited alot of material so that is free except for the electricity for the machine. I do require hot hot water for an occasional bath (the rest of the baths can be just very warm) but since we don't pay for water, just to heat it that isn't much. Now about time I am a bit higher maintenance. My DH spends lots of time with his best friend (me) and that is great. We dont' have to be spending money, walks and board games and library movies or reading th eBible together or talking or... Then there is the time spent opening my door and holding my coat and I guess I am high maintenance, just not expensive mantenance.

I think my husband would have liked it if I spend more time and money on my appearance. He loved to go clothes shopping with me and sit while I try on clothes.

My DH is the one who buys all my clothes! Though I have only tested him on the 'watch me try on a billion things' before kids, I don't think he would like it now with three kids pestering him!

Low, low low maintenace here! I did my days of high maintenance and have found that other things are more important. I buy thrift store for clothes and shampoo on sale. I work at home on the farm so would just ruin expensive clothes

I am medium maintenance. On a daily basis I don't wear make-up, and usually my hair is towel dried. My usual wears are jeans and a sweater. When I do go out I usually dress up, put make-up on.

I didn't consider myself to be high maintenance but compared to other people that have posted on here I may be high maintenance.

I just get my hair cut straight across (it's shoulder length, and curly) once every 3-4 months.
I don't do anything fancy with it as far as getting ready in the morning except for putting in some sort of mousse or gel to control the frizz. I don't blow dry my hair. I wear some make up, usually just mascara, sometimes a little neutral colored-eyeliner, and powder for oil control. I generally get up an hour before I have to be at work in the morning, and it takes me about 10 minutes to get to work. That gives me time to check my email, shower, have breakfast, make coffee to bring along, and make lunch, and get out the door.

I used to dress up more for my past job as a resident counselor, but currently as a preschool teacher I basically wear jeans and a tshirt, or an occasional casual skirt to work. I still like to buy clothing though, and I like to get things mostly from old navy and sometimes from gap. I like to dress up more on the weekends sometimes as I still have all the nice clothing I wore at my last job (and will need the nice clothing once I start School Psychology stuff) and I like to look nice sometimes.

I have a new car that we bought in October, after my previous car was destroyed because someone drove into while it was parked on the street outside my apartment overnight. I used the little bit of money insurance gave me, and saved up from May to October, and with some help from my boyfriend on the down payment; we now have a brand new 2006 Ford Focus. So we have a new car, but it was by no means a really expensive car.

I went to a spa one time my Sr year in High School and haven't gone since. I'd love to get a massage or pedicure but I just haven't bought it for myself. I'm actually going to meet friends from college this upcoming weekend and we're going to treat ourselves to some sort of spa thing. That will be the first time in 6 years. I do have a footspa thing that my boyfriend gave me for Christmas a couple years ago, that has helped with the urge to go to a spa.

I was just thinking about a friend of mine who was here last night who is struggling financially, but has gone out with her 8 year old daughter and they both get pedicures. Someday, when she's ready, I let her in on what it really takes someone of limited income to live well. lol

I'd say that I'm selectively high maintenance: I couldn't care about nails, but it's important to me to have a good haircut. I walk everywhere and do cheap exercise instead of going to the gym. I laugh out loud at evian.

I have a friend that lives hand to mouth, they have borrowed from everyone and the church paid their bills for months and months. She still gets her hair done and perms all the time. When they go on trips, they buy guys for everyone, but can't pay their bills.

I don't think that I am high maintenance but
I do get my hair cut regularly, about every 6 -8 weeks. Sometimes I can go 3 months but that is pushing it. I do not like to spend time on my hair so a good hair cut means less time in front of the mirror!
I wear minimal make up. (not a natural beauty) don't really like make up that much though.
Would NEVER give up my contacts, absolutely hate my glasses. But I am blind as a bat.
I don't have to dye my hair yet but I will when it turns gray. hopefully never!
I despise clothes shopping. Even more so shoe shopping. But I love to grocery shop!
Dont' get my nails done, no patience!
Hate baths, prefer showers. baths take too long
I just want to be able to look decent without a lot of effort.
