Nt sure I know exactly what you mean, I tend to relate 'high matenence with cost, as I sit here in my holey ripped outfit (comfy) and tping with beat up nails (bleach is bad for nails) and my hair up in a simple bun, oh with a baby on the knee

...I have a feeling I am not 'high matenence'!

But if you are looking at emotional needs, well that might be free but I am sure it is tiring for DH to have to constantly reassure me (do I look fat in this? Do I still look pregnant? etc, etc)

Ok Princess Perky...I have to chuckle...because of your response, I looked down at my clothes...I am wearing a sweatshirt that I bought at Target 7 years ago...it is so worn the ribbing is fraying around the neck and wrists...but it is warm, comfy and i love it...I have two similar sweatshirts hanging in my closet. I own 2 pair of jeans...3 pair of shoes (tennis shoes, clogs and a dressier black pair from my work days)...I stopped cutting my hair about 4 years ago....I decided I would save the haircut money and give it to a single, struggling mom anonymously at Christmas each year...So $$ wise I think I am fairly low maintenance.

Emotionally- hmmm...I am probably in the average-maintenance category. I am way less stressed these days and pretty much go-with-the -flow.

NO WAY- NOT ME, (I hope)! When I think of "High Maintenance", I think of fancy clothes, tons of shoes, nice car, house, etc. I don't think a "Thrifty Mom" could be high maintenance

Who the heck is going to maintain me? I have a disabled wonderful husband, a demanding job, and two aging dogs. I don't buy a lot of clothing, I don't go out much, and I try to save. I do however, receive wonderful foot massages and back massages from my husband, so maybe I'm more high maintenance than I thought.

I have two pairs of working jeans, one pair of work shoes and one nice set for church, and some very old shoes that don't have holes in them. My skin is dry, my nails are cracked, my hair is frizzy and I'm gaining weight - HELP - I'm getting old!!!!

Sorry, I heard that phrase one time from a husband who said his wife was high maintenance. By that I mean, hair and nails done all the time, perfect make up, fancy clothes, etc.
I am going out to eat with 3 other couples tonight, all the ladies but me are "high maintenance" I look like the bag lady out of the bunch.
I have not been to a hairdresser since I was a teenager. I have never had my nails done. I am wearing a sweater right now that is about 20 years old! I seem to not fit in around here.
Can I come visit you? You all sound like my type of ladies!

Well, I guess I'm high maintenance. I get a pedi done very 5-6 weeks, I know it's $$ I could save but it's something I enjoy. Side note - I get it done at an actual spa, not one of the cheapy Asian places, value my health too much. But DH and I have a deal, I get my pedis and he gets a few bottles of wine that equal that amount. I get my haircut 2, maybe 3 times a year and since DD has been born I don't buy new clothes, still trying to lose those darn prego lbs. All but a few of my clothes are 2+ years old. I have a nice vehicle, live in a very nice suburb. I don't wear makeup though. So I guess I'm high maintenance, could be worse though.

I would say I am not High Maintence person, I spend around $100 per year on my hair cuts and dyed and I may go to the beauty school once or twice per year, about $55 a time (This is half the normal price) for half day special pampering session, nails, eyebrow waxing & dyed, facial and massage etc. We have a few beauty schools in my area.

high maintaince not a chance here!!! I may have been a little when I was a teenager.

I was more into makeup & nails & getting my hair done & earrings & rings & all of that well 3 kids later & pushing 30 now I am not even close!! I have actually had my nails done 1 time in my life it was $5 a piece me & my oldest did it together for fun & I loved it but I have to many dishes for that I would say so I dont do it often havent had my hair done in 11 years this month. I either just get a straight cut at a shop or have my friend cut it for free. If I dye it I use stuff I got free with a coupon or rebate. I dont own dress shoes or dress clothes anymore havent been seen in a dress since my dads funeral 7yrs ago.

I would say I am more like the girl in the song redneck woman barefoot with a baby on my hip LOL in my walmart clothes more like clearance or garage sale clothes cant even afford walmart & that is the truth!!

I wear frumpy and/or mens clothes, cut my hair maybe three times a year, have never dyed my hair, have never gotten a manicure or pedicure. I wear little makeup and not even half the time, but I do prefer Clinique makeup, so I only buy maybe once every two years, one item so I can get the bonus at bonus time. My honest boyfriend agrees that I am not high maintenance.

Let's see...
I don't own one single item of makeup
I have had my nails done maybe 5 times in my life, mostly for weddings I was in (but not for mine!)
Never had a pedicure
Used to get my haircuts for $4 at the beautician school, till I moved too far away - now I cringe whenever I have to pay $10 (about twice a year)
I use whatever type of shampoo I can find for next to nothing - no styling, mousse, hairspray, etc.
I buy probably 95% of my clothes at the thrift store, except for undergarments, socks, and any specific item I need that I may not be able to find on demand
So I guess I would qualify as pretty low maintenance too!
The only things I am picky about are my soaps and lotions/creams due to eczema - otherwise, I wouldn't care about that either!

Pedi is about $50 with tip. I do work full time and make a good living so it's a way to spoil myself. I don't wear any make-up, haircuts few times a year and I don't buy many clothes anymore. I do have to use mousse in my hair though - it's curly and if I didn't use something I'd be a big frizz ball all day. But all in all I don't spend too much on other stuff. I have college to pay for in 15 years.

But compared to you gals on here - I guess I'm high maintenance

I guess I would consider myself medium to low maintenance. My nails are always done by me. I never leave the house with my hair a mess, but it is normally cut, colored, and styled by me using the cheapest products I can find. I rarely go without makeup, but I use very inexpensive brands. We dress office casual, meaning no jeans at work. I like to look nice, but I'm good at finding deals on clothes, jewelry, and shoes. For instance, my winter jacket is a wool peacoat in a trendy shade of green from Geoffrey Beane regular price $149. I got it on clearance with a coupon for $29. The last piece of jewelry I bought and received many compliments on, was $5 on the clearance rack at Kohls.
