Scouting...since they don't pay for all the work, it must be a hobby.
reading used to be a hobby, but I seem to not have much time for it now.
Baking, not that I am very good, but I do enjoy creating something delicious (and eating it!)
games..the old fashioned non computer kind as well as computer games.

A thread here without disneysteve's post in it? LOL! where are you Steve, Sweeps?
My hobbies are cars/racing/engines/DIY/fabrication/tools/motorcycle is the latest one - yes I'm a geek!
I also love the idea of hobby farming, camping, traveling but I haven't been able to do much of these or at all in some cases. I mean camping sounds great but I'm overprotective of my family and my 4yo so no way in heck I'm sleeping with the mountain lions and bears out there. Traveling, just don't have the time and hobby farming it's just a pipe dream at this point for us city slickers.

I somehow missed this one til it was brought back. I love to hunt, fish and garden which leads to cooking which I love as well. I also breed and raise labrador retrievers."Those who can't remember the past are condemmed to repeat it".- George Santayana.

ah, it's nice to see old threads brought back from the dead...okay, I'll play.
Hobbies for me are photography, reading, running, and when I get the chance (not always very often), SCUBA diving and snowboarding. Soon, I'll be getting back into playing the piano, which I'm looking forward to alot.

It's kind of odd. I've looked at other posts here and realize I do some of this stuff but don't really view it as a hobby even though I do them quite a bit."Those who can't remember the past are condemmed to repeat it".- George Santayana.

Vegetable gardens are a great way of saving money on your food expenses. I have an extensive garden (a small farm really) on my 1/4 acre every year and not only do I not have to purchase most vegetables, I make a profit on the local farmer's market with surplus harvest after feeding myself and family and friends.
You can find all sorts of economical ways to cut your required investment as well. I buy raw steer manure in bulk from a dairy farm near my home and compost it en masse with my kitchen and yard waste and accelerate the process with worms. In this way I pay very little to augment my soil each year. My biggest costs are associated with maintenence of my tiller and purchase of fertilizers and other plant supplements.
