I am approximately 70 days out from closing on the home we are currently building. I was a bit surprised today to hear how good the current mortgage rates are (800+ FICO and over 20% down).

30 yr fixed for 3.125% with $700 credit at closing
15 yr fixed for 2.5% with a $700 credit at closing


A lot better than my first mortgage rate in 1999 of 7.75%

Ours was in 1994 and I think was in the 8's or possibly 9% range.

We're in the process of buying a new house for our upcoming move, and I was shocked when I got a 15-yr fixed mortgage for 2.625%...
