Grocery Budget Stretching Tip: Check for Pricing Anomolies

At my local grocery store, the price for a 2-lb bag of carrots is the same as the price for a 1-lb bag of carrots.
And the 1-lb price is a "fair" market price.
    A couponless BOGO on carrots!

I also check the organics. When in season, the organic carrots and apples can sometimes be a lot cheaper than regular ones when they are on sale.

That's normal. The larger size should have a lower unit price. What I was going to post was to make sure to check unit pricing because sometimes that isn't true. For example one time I was going to buy trash bags. We usually buy the large box of 80 but the little box of 10 was on sale, making the price per bag less for the box of 10 than for the box of 80, so I just bought a bunch of little boxes. Don't assume that the larger size is the better deal.
