  • $500 per "Poop" - Fecal sample sales for Microbiomes *Plenty of Catches*

    Link to Article ----> https://nypost.com/2022/10/28/i-disc...ar-by-pooping/

    Just had to share this article. I heard them discuss this on a comedy podcast and had to look into it!

    Sounds like w/ the company, https://www.humanmicrobes.org/ , if you are elligble to donate, they'll pay you $500 per sample sold to them.

    Plenty of catches..... Sounds like a very small % of people, actually qualify as having "healthy enough" gut biome to meet the requirements. Also if I read properly.... you must be under 30 (I'm 5 years too late ). But this was yet another interesting, unique, and utterly novel "way to make money".

    Enjoy Gang! Feel free to comment, question, or take the wonderfully tee'd up liberty to "joke" about this interesting article.

    It absolutely drives me up the wall when someone says "Earn $xxx by donating", you are not donating you're selling.

    To the subject at hand, I find it interesting that they need a steady source. I should imagine there are thousands of strains of bacteria which comprise our gut bio. Once a strain has been isolated, I would think they could culture an infinite amount from that one sample.

    I've seen claims in the past of taking bacteria from fat mice and giving it to skinny mice made them fat, and vice versa. I'd heard a story that the Nazis had a program where they were giving soldiers capsules which contained the poop of their star athletes.

    If you did fit their criteria and had that one magical combination of strains all it would take is a round of antibiotics, or licking you're finger to change the makeup.
