  • Tons of ideas + Examples of ways to make side money

Podcast - "Side Hustle School" hosted by Chris Guillebeau.

This (very short ~5-10 min episode) podcast provides examples and detail for many different people making money from "side hustles".

Definition he gives of side hustle =
    1) Can't (normally) quit normal job to do it
    2) Can't be an hourly job (uber, day labor, ect...)
    3) In most cases involves unique ideas
    4) Generally gravitates to low Over head (no buildings, employees, etc..)

Of course there are some examples that have some of the above rules broken. But it is super interesting and delivered at great frequency, usually 3 or 4 a week! I started using Amazon Merch after discovering it on this podcast. It was an episode from aprox early march. Some lady who's a graphic designer used Amazon Merch to make like $50k a year from T shirt designs she submitted. Completely fulfilled by amazon w/ no physical labor for her to earn it (aside from time spent on design programs).

Really interesting examples are given to help spur some ideas for people to explore additional steams of income .

I'll check it out. Youtube is my only side hustle right now, but it's always good to be on the lookout for new ways. Heck, some on here could probably make an entertaining/educational personal finance podcast.

Make you own liqueurs. For a while, my brother and I made small batches of flavored liqueurs. We would go to flee-markets and sell it cooled down in small 4oz shot glasses like limonciello. It takes approx. 1–3 month to make a jar of a particular flavor. You simply take enough vodka to fill your airtight jar, a bunch of sugar, the ingredients you want it to taste like and mix it. We made raspberry, lemon, mint and licorice. In Denmark, licorice is a big thing.

Craftsman. I recently bought a wood-table of the app Tradono. The craftsman was a university student who just liked making tables. He wanted everyone to have a nice table to fair money. And it is awesome. So if there is something you like crafting, try selling it on sites like Tradono or Etsy.

Freelancer. You can try Fiverr even though I think it is a little cheap for my creativity. You can also try Freelancer but it is a job in itself to find a job due to fierce competition. Instead, go to different facebook groups, and ask if someone needs a proofreader/graphic designer/article writer/whatever. A little like the the craftman, you only use a computer instead of your hands.

Soap maker. Ah, the art of Fight Club. Making soap is fairly easy, very cheap, you can get creative with scent, and you can sell it fairly expensive. There are a ton of guides online, so just look it up.

Blogger. If you write a lot of thoughts down anyway, make a blog. Just keep writing your stuff down, and market your blog on a few facebook sites. Get a following going. Make a few places for advertisement on your blog.

Co-creator. Make a t-shirt design and go to Threadless an upload it. Make more design and upload them. Market them a bit on social media, and try to get some semi celebrities to wear them.
