What is something you notice a ton of people doing that with a simple fix you know would make it much more effective?

Driving 30 minutes each way between work and home, not having enough personal time, paying a lot of property tax, having high home maintenance and utilities expenses.

Fix: Move into one of the well built homes in the city, close to work.

I'd love for you to fix my high property taxes, Joan.

I work 8 miles from my office by the way.

I'm certainly not saying everybody has those problems or those available solutions. In fact I just blogged today about how my city is abused in part by people who have businesses here yet choose to live elsewhere. They could live here; they choose otherwise. They use the city as their litter box then go home to clean & green surroundings.

And yeah disneysteve, I think you must have some of the highest property taxes in the US. Am I right?

I live right on the county line. If I lived a quarter of a mile up the street my property taxes would be triple what they are now.

Hopefully they won't be reassessing Washington County anytime soon.

our taxes here are more than double the mortgage of my other house, if I moved into either nearby city, my taxes would be higher because they are struggling to keep up their tax base

People seem so unaware of interest rates. They buy 'wants' like giant TVs with totally functional TVs at home and never monitor the sum paid in interest tacked on to the listed price. Even more bewildering is paying late fees when it's simple to pay on line. It's not complicated to track due dates! Finally, if you care about your money, you need to know what you hold in your retirement account and the silent fees tacked on that can often be reduced with different choices.
