  • Recyclebank?

Does anyone use Recyclebank and if so, what do you find to be the best rewards? I have a hard time finding anything useful as this type of 'additional income' is usually utilized for gifts or household necessities.

    Thanks in advance!

We've had it for several years. When they first announced it, I was really excited. Once it actually went live, not so much. I have a tough time finding rewards I care about. Also, I hate how the reward structure is designed. Points don't have a set value. Every merchant decides how many points they want for their reward, so for example one place gives you $1 off coupon for 50 points while another gives $5 off a $10 purchase for 75 points and another gives you $5 off a $50 purchase for 50 points. There's no rhyme or reason to it.

My main complaint is simply a lack of rewards that I want. A lot of things that come up aren't even close to us geographically. There's one deli that we go to and we get a coupon for that but it's only 20 points and we only do it every month or two. Right now, we have nearly 10,000 points in our account. One of these days, I'll find something useful to do with them.

So we continue to fill our bin every week because we feel strongly about recycling but overall, Recyclebank has pretty much been a bust in my opinion.

Steve, that's pretty much how I feel as well. I used to see a good reward every once in a while. Now, I only tend to use the rewards when I am purchasing a bridal shower gift - ($10 off $30 coupon). Thanks for the feedback, I was hoping I was missing some 'secret deal' haha.
