  • What motivates you to make big money online?

What would you do if you could make big money online? Would you travel? If so, where to? Would you continue life as usual? Would you buy a bigger house? Would you move to different place? If so, where? Would you donate your money to a cause? If so, which one?

We all have our motivations for being able to make money online. What we do with our lives and money once that money starts rolling in is most likely tied to that motivation. If you don't have a motivation, you most likely will not be successful.

    Mexico Dreaming

I am posting my motivation as a reply to my own thread post. I must say that my motivation for making big money online is so that I can have the freedom that I need to move to Mexico. I need the freedom from debt, because in Mexico I do not think that I would be able to make much money. In Mexico, I would also need an income source that did not require me to work in Mexico, especially since it is much harder to get a work permit in Mexico these days. I feel that even if I were not able to make BIG money, that I could make a substantial income online for living in Mexico, which for the most part is low-cost. But, just imagine, if I were able to make big money, that big money would so much BIGGER in Mexico!

Best of luck with Mexico. My motivation is also travel; having the ability to go where I want and not be concerned with the costs.

Making Money Online is Hard Work

From all of the research that I have done indicates that you still have to work in order to make money online. If you have a secret to working online without actually working, please let me know.

I, too, have considered moving to Thailand or some other country where it is inexpensive to live. I am currently considering Mexico, as my username implies. If I could just make $1000 a month online, and live in Mexico, I would be happy.

I am trying my hand at teaching English via Skype

I am trying to teach English via Skype online, but I am having trouble getting traffic that converts to sales. I designed the website myself; so, maybe there is a design flaw. Maybe the problem is that most of the visitors looking to learn English cannot afford the prices, even though I have lowered them to as little as $12 for an hour session when purchased in bulk. My normal price is $21 per hour, but that can be broken down into 20 minute sessions of $7 a piece. I sell class credits for $7 a piece, with each credit equal to a 20 minute session. When 20 credits are purchased at once, the price falls drastically to $4 per credit in the bulk purchase. So, the student could purchase an hour class for $12.

I am also offering a plan for students to earn free classes. Each person who registers for a free account is provided with a referral link. Each time a purchase is made by someone who has clicked on that referral link, the student who referred the purchaser will receive a free credit, which is good for a 20-minute class. There is no limit on the number of classes that can be earned.

I feel that the prices that I offer are very affordable for students. Keep in mind that this business would actually require me to do work before class preparing lessons, during class actually teaching, and after class evaluating each student, in addition to maintaining the website, and marketing. This does not include the cost of running the business: electricity costs, web hosting fees, domain name fees, credit card processing fees, and the cost of Internet service. Therefore, at $12 an hour, I would just be making enough to pay for the business and have a little extra. This will not work for a long-term business plan. But my plan is to add more teachers who can work for $9 an hour as independent contractors. These teachers would not have to endure the burden of maintaining the website and marketing (unless they wanted to increase their own class load). Then I would make a couple of bucks per class that other teachers teach.

As I mentioned in the beginning, I am having an issue with traffic and conversion. I am paying for marketing through Google Adwords, but the traffic is not converting. I am averaging about 100 clicks per day at the moment. I am averaging about 5 cents per click in costs, and no ROI. Can anyone provide me with any suggestions?

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. However, if you do have negative comments, please be respectful in the manner that you reply.

              Kind Regards,

              Jeff

                Here to help Jeff!

                Hi Jeff,

I will start off by saying that from reading your messages you seem like a good guy with honest intentions. Let me also say that I am by no means an online guru or expert, but I do have some knowledge that may be useful to you!

Try not to be disheartened by your lack of students coming via your website. First of all, you have entered an extremely competitive environment and you are going up against people with years in the game who know every little trick out there.

Secondly, I think you could make some changes to your website that will improve the user experience and possibly increase your conversions. I am awful at web design and if you did create the website yourself then I applaud you, it isn't easy and you have obviously put a lot of time and effort into this. The biggest advice I can give you is that there are much easier ways to get a really professional and modern website. Your biggest friend here is a tool called Wordpress. Have you used it before?

Now lets talk about Google Adwords. The truth here is that unless you are very experienced with using Adwords, then it is extremely easy to lose money very quickly. Google may make it seem super simple and easy, but without constant testing and data tracking, it can be difficult to progress.

I think there could be some really effective ways to get students, and to also filter out the ones who are not willing to pay your prices so that they don't cost you money by clicking on your advert.

Also, with regards to expanding and making money from other teachers; GREAT IDEA - first thought let's concentrate on getting you to the point of not having enough time to teach all the students that want lessons

I hope that this information doesn't leave you feeling bad, but it's important that you consider my points before spending too much time and money without achieving success.

As per the OP's question, I would continue life as usual for a years and save the money, travel a little I suppose and depending on how big the "big" is, I would travel a good bit and quit my day job. especially if the "hit it big" was residual income.

What motivates me is that, if I work hard enough and smart enough, one day I'll make a passive income and I can continue to work what I love, just without stress and fear that one day I won't have enough to feed me and my cats.

I'd probably build a cat shelter if I was ever to have a passive income. I like the way you're thinking, that's probably the same thing I would do. Actually, when I think about it, passive income should be the main goal for all of us.

The rich lifestyle always attracted me, and not the greedyness, but the fact that you can do anything you want. Basically its total freedom, and not slave to a 9-5 job
