  • Costco Gift Card arbitrage

If you're a Costco member, here's an easy way to make some extra money on the side. The next time you visit Costco, by a few gift cards. You can sell these gift cards for over face value. The lowest denomination you can purchase is $25, and you can usually sell this card for $30-$35 to anyone who doesn't want to pay the $55 yearly membership fee, but wants to go every once in a while. Even if you're not a member, the gift card will allow you to get in the store and buy everything you want. If the gift card isn't enough to cover your purchase, you can pay the remainder with cash.

There really is little to no risk in doing this because even if you can't sell the gift cards, you can use them yourself the next time you go. This is never happened to me. I've always been able to sell the cards I purchase for a profit, and I usually earn an extra hundred dollars or so each month doing this.

If you have any doubt about this, do a search on eBay for Costco gift cards and you'll see that they are all selling for above their face value. I usually sell mine on craigslist because there are less fees and it's easier.

    Enjoy!!

This is interesting. I went to eBay to check and all of the listings seem to be above the value of the card. What's really strange is some are more than $50 above the card value. Why would anybody ever want to buy one of these? At $55 you can buy a membership, so what would be the benefit of buying a gift card in this instance?
