  • Can I make money with YouTube?

I've heard that some people make full-time incomes by posting videos on YouTube. I think this would be something that I would like to do. I was wondering how to go about doing that? Is there anything special that I need to know in order to make money with YouTube videos? What's the best way to get started?

This is not an easy thing to do. It takes a long time to get a following so that you can actually make money doing this. It's fine if that's what you want to do, but if you're only thinking about doing it for the money there are many things that you can do that will make more with a lot less effort. It's like any other business and there's a lot of competition, and to create engaging videos that people watch takes a lot of time and effort.

Sometimes if the videos you make on youtube become popular enough, youtube will offer you an opportunity to become a partner. When that happens, you start to get paid for the amount of people who watch your videos and also through adds on your account page. You can't just ask youtube to hire you to make videos however. You have to become popular through your own means. If you have any talents that would make thousands of people want to watch a video of you performing that talent, then yeah, you can get hired by youtube. It doesn't happen too often though so don't get your hopes up.

I am also aware that it is possible to earn from YouTube since it is been on the news before and read something about it. You will need lots of traffic or views in your videos there in order to be qualified as their affiliate. Also you can add advertisements like Google ads.

          Hi there,

It is possible to make money from Youtube, but unless you can offer a certain skill or have a unique personality, it is difficult.

People make money from advertisements shown on Youtube, typically from $5-$10 per thousand views. So yes, views add up!

For you to get an idea of how much someone can earn, look up Ali A on Youtube. Between his 2 channels, he makes $2200+ every day. He deserves it, however. He makes quality videos and offers help and a skill (video games ).

So, in short, I personally wouldn't pursue an income via Youtube. It's just not for me. Maybe you can make videos that are sought after. If so, good luck and let me know!

From someone with a small youtube channel, the answer is yes, and no.

5-10 dollars/1000 view is totally false. It's more like 80 cents per 1000 views.

Also there are a lot of videos being uploaded to youtube per second. The chances of your newly uploaded video getting ONE view is pretty slim. Youtube's search engine is not 100% based on tags/titles, but popularity. It's really hard to find your video EVEN if you type in the exact title of your video.

So far, I've gained 1k subscribers from being on youtube for 3 years(granted I don't make a lot of vids), have about 500k total views, and earned myself around 700 dollars so far in total.

              Hi Singuy,

I suppose the $.80/per thousand is from your own experience?

How much monetization of your videos have you tried?

A video of a popular Youtuber said anywhere from $3 - $10 , with most people in the $3-$5 range (sorry about that last statement in previous post). Assuming you are with AdSense your CPM will be really low (around $.50/mille), until you can get a contract.

And this article also says $3 - $10 per thousand views (likely with contract - but, I'm sure AdSense payment fluctuates along with your video niche):

I'm with adsense with all ads enabled. I gain about 6-7 dollars/month from the 8k views from my videos. The number used to be much higher, but I think Youtube needs to deal with a huge saturation of video views, therefore the money I have been getting dropped tremendously. This is just a guess, because I used to earn around 30/month.

My youtube channel gets me a check slightly over $100 every 8-9 months. Not a lot of money, but enough to provide seed money for my hobby and roll into other videos to make. My goal is to produce about 5 more videos, monetize them, and then reduce the pay interval so that I net $100 every couple months.

My channel has >500k views and 1400 subscribers.

If you want to make money from you tube you need to follow these steps:

                    1.Become a YouTube Partner.
                    2.Sign up your own sponsors.
                    3.Promote your own merchandise.
                    4.Go freemium style.
5.Get an affiliate deal in place.

There a thousand of youtube channels out there and only a few of them make decent money. I have read a blogpost about some youtuberes who even make millions a year. I don`t say this isn`t possible but you have to come up with something new and stick to it. I took a look at this succefull channels and most of them are out there for many many years and I believe they didn`t earn much at the start. The only thing that can keep you doing this is if you are making it for fun not for money otherwise you will lose pretty fast your interest on it.

                      Good Luck!

You can earn money by YouTube but not much. If you will share Videos of your business/products news, review, update or importance then you can earn money by YouTube advertizing. Best of luck.

                            Youtube Money

I totally agree advertising is what get youtube views. I've heard being a youtube partner gets you money. Youtube Partner only requires you to post videos even though you don't get lots of views the real point is to keep posting videos and include youtube links in it.

Hey I think YouTube is a tough thing to do......I don't think it's easy to get yourself hired by them.
