Does anyone here sell on Etsy? What is your experience and how would you say it compares to eBay? I've been going through my stuff I need to get rid of and I have a bunch of vintage Japanese stuff (pre 1945) and wondering if Etsy might be a better platform (ie less fees) than eBay. Any opinions?

My experiences:
For cool stuff that you made yourself, I'd say Etsy is best... My grandmother made costume jewelry, and it sold "OK" on Etsy but hardly at all on eBay. (Overall, having consistent sales on Etsy seems to require some rather unique and/or quality work...) Fees are much lower, but I had almost no success on Etsy selling vintage stuff.
For vintage stuff, as it seems you're talking about, eBay has been by FAR the best place for me to sell. eBay provides a MASSIVE market - both domestically and internationally. Most people, if they go online to look for old stuff, would likely go to eBay first. They MIGHT check Etsy as well, but I'd bet they WILL, no matter what, check eBay.
Fees for eBay are rather substantial - around 10% of the TOTAL AMOUNT of the sale (to include the price the buyer paid for shipping!) - so factor that in to your expectations. But the high price of selling comes with the advantage of having such a huge number of potential buyers. I truly believe there is nothing else on the planet that comes close to comparing to eBay.
