Right, but if you set it up so that your $5 gig will not really be useful to anyone on it's own you will have very few sales that are only for the $5.

If you want to make money on line, you need to read the fine print and understand how much of your time will be taken up with these types of jobs.
My point is look at the fine print! People that write in here apparently have NO clue how to make money on line, also I would highly suspect, have no clue how to upsell their talents to make MORE than the initial $5 on Fiverr. That is not meant to be rude or condescending either, just basic facts. If they knew how to do things to make money on line they would have already figured it out and be doing it. Since they haven't then I conclude they don't know how which is why they ask for help. My best advice is before 'signing' is research so that you understand exactly what you are getting into, no matter what the activity.

I do not disagree with you on the fact that people may be trying to upsell after they caught their initial buyer there, it is that with everything and anything you do to make money on line, you have to know what is going on. Read the fine print of sites before you sign up. Whether it is writing a blog for big bucks and not knowing that to make money at it you need ads generating revenue on the blog, to selling your own stuff on line with enough profit after fees and postage so that you actually made money and not in paid money. I have seen people sign up for stores on ecrater and then ask where do they get the merchandise to sell and who will ship it?! In other words they are totally clueless and obviously never read the fine or even not so fine print.

To make money on line no matter how, people have to stop being clueless and take action on their own part to learn the rules and find out how to do something the best way so that they actually make money. For those that want to make money writing blogs, then they better have a decent command of the English language (or whatever language they will post in). If you want to make money on line, you need to read the fine print and understand how much of your time and effort will be taken up with these types of jobs. There are always sharks swimming in these waters ready to snap up the uninformed, the desperate poor and those looking for easy money. Thankfully on this board the 'referrals' to that 'fast, easy money' are deleted quickly before they can pull readers from here into murky waters that they can't figure out how to get out of.

I see what you're getting at now. I tend to do quite a bit of research before jumping into something like that, but I suppose not everyone does.

After many years of making money on line I feel like I have seen just about everything. I remember before I started selling on ecrater I spent a good two weeks checking out the rules, reading the forums, etc. I am a very fast reader so I covered an immense amount of ground in those two weeks. When newbies come along and ask for advice and I suggest that they do the same research, read the rules, etc. they act almost offended. It is even worse when many ask how does my store look now that I set it up or I opened my store 3 days ago and haven't sold anything yet and why. It doesn't matter how gentle you try to tell them, they are offended. They can't believe that their yard sale rejects really aren't going to sell, or that the venue won't change their rules to suit the newbie, or the newbie (after just escaping ebay) wants everything to be just like it was at ebay (stay there then is my response, don't come here and tell the owners to charge us fees so YOU can get the services you want). They can't believe that the lack of decent spelling and grammar can keep them from having sales, and the list goes on and on.

It is like people need money so someone tells them get a store or write a blog, and with no more planning than that, open a store or write a three sentence blog post (with at least three misspelling per sentence) and then wonder why things aren't selling and why the cash isn't piling up from their blog. Can a real merchant open a brick and mortar store without getting permits, writing a business plan, spending at minimum several months planning what they are doing? Of course not, yet people go on line to make money with no pre-planning whatsoever and then they can't figure out why they haven't made a penny.

If at all possible I try to help prevent people from jumping in the deep end of the pool when they have forgotten they don't know how to swim. I see so many posts here asking for help and yet it is extremely rare for anyone to admit to actually having made money on line or blogging or any of the other ways you can make money. I would love to see some feedback from those that succeed, but mostly what we get are people who apparently have only heard that people can get good money doing particular activities, they don't actually know anyone that has made money and they certainly haven't. I know very well what it is like to be poor and needing more income coming in than what you have. This is why I try to help as much as I can in case it will make a difference for someone and their family.

I get where you are coming from, and I agree. I sell my daughter's jewelry on fiverr for her, and she's made over $250 since last December after expenses. Obviously that's not "quit your job" type money, but it's not bad for something we might spend an hour or two a week on. It's not something I want to take over our lives, so I'm intentionally not accepting wholesale offers, even though a few people have been interested. There are a lot of people on fiverr making decent money, but as with anything you have to do your research and use your brain.

There are different ways of earning through Blog. Adsense or advertising is not the only way of earning from blog. You can promote product on your blog and earn from affiliate commission.

I guess search engine optimization and social media marketing can help.

                      I never read the guide.

However, building a niche blog is easier and scalable. It is important for you to do lots of research, so that you can narrow down to niches that are:

                      1) High demand.

                      2) Low supply or competition.

Good luck to you. The key to build successful websites are consistency and building valuable relationship with your readers.

Guys - its a dirty secret, but one way a lot of bloggers make money is through sponsored postings. Pretty much the blogger builds a popular blog and then runs paid content on it.

No secret, that IS how you make money with a blog. You can write all you want to on a blog, but without getting paid in some way for doing it, you won't ever earn a penny. And no one will be paying you anything at all unless you write an interesting, informative blog that people with want to come to. Which means work to get a blog up and running that is well written and well sponsored and that means that dirty little four letter word than many object to -- WORK! Or two little four letter words -- HARD WORK!!

Gailete - yep, thats one major model. Other successful models are running advertisements, generating courses and selling them, as well as sales of ebooks, etc.

Yep affiliate marketing is one way most blogs earn money and then those that really know what they are doing and work hard throw in a combo if not all the ways you mentioned. Unfortunately many that seem to come here wanting to make big bucks on line with a blog aren't willing to do even the basic work. I've seen people who come HERE and on other forums throughout the years to ask how to sell on ebay, Amazon, Etsy, you name it. They don't seem to think that perhaps those venues would have posts on how to sell on those venues.

One forum that I finally gave up on had gotten to the point that every other day if not every day someone was asking about how to sell on line. They apparently hadn't read any of the previous threads that asked the same questions, which to me meant they were too lazy to sell on line in the first place! But not to lazy to ask someone else to spoon feed them.

The worst I ever saw was a nurse practitioner and her doctor husband had their own clinic and wanted to sell some product on line as well. When she was asking the most basic questions about how to sell, we suggested that she look it up on the how to sell post and venue rules. Her response was she was too busy to do that and apparently thought we were just sitting around twiddling our thumbs with nothing else to do but to help make a couple already making good money to make more while many of us were struggling to have enough for the basics. She left that venue when she found that we wouldn't do her work for her.

I've worked hard all my life basically supporting myself since I was around 17 and I'm 60 now. I don't understand why people aren't willing to work. They don't seem to understand the feeling of pride in doing a job well and getting paid for doing it, even if it is a paltry sum.

You are so right about AdSense paying less these days. I used to earn $100+ about every 8-10 months from my blogs and store. My last check was from Jan. 2015 I believe. It will probably take me another 1-2 months if not three to get another payout. We need the money so I leave them in.
