  • Is Organo Gold a scam?

I have read several threads in this forum on mlm companies and I have a question about Organo Gold. From what I have been able to take away from the other conversations on multi level companies is that they aren't necessarily scams, but the promise of easily making a lot of money by recruiting others is a scam. But what if a company has a superior product like Organo Gold does?

They sell coffee and tea that is better than anything else on the market. Since this is a renewable product that consumers have to buy again and again when they run out, it seems to me that you could make money from selling the products and you wouldn't need to recruit anyone.

So my question is that if a company like Oragano Gold doesn't recruit promising that you can easily make a lot of money by recruiting others, then it wouldn't be a scam, right? If they say that it will take a lot of hard work and effort, but a benefit is that the more people that you do recruit, the more income you can make off of them through residual income, then it's a legitimate company.

Simple rule: If you have to ask whether or not something is a scam, chances are, it's a scam.

They can't be complete scams because they are companies that would be shut down if they were scams. Organo Gold sells a product just like any other company. They just have a revenue generating structure that is different than traditional companies. I'm having trouble discerning from the comments whether people think the whole thing is a scam or just the claims that you will easily make a lot of money is the scam.

The problem I have with every mlm I have heard about is that the recruiting and "potential" money that you're going to make by recruiting others is always mentioned prominently and often. I don't ever think I have seen a presentation where this wasn't the case.

While the mlm system isn't necessarily a pyramid scheme if they do have a product that they are selling, I think that they deceptively recruit people. I also don't like that in many cases those that are part of the system have to purchase a minimum amount of product each month, especially to keep their downline -- this places them in the situation that if they don't fork out their own money some months, they can lose everything they've worked for, and this is how many of my friends who got involved ended up losing a lot of money.

Is Organo Gold a scam? I don't know. But if they claim that you will easily be earning tons of money in your spare time by joining, then that statement is. Almost everyone who joins a mlm company ends up losing money.

          Here we go again.

I think that we need to create a sub forum for discussing nothing but MLM's.

It's not my favorite company, but they do have a decent product that they sell and have expanded it over the years. it's a sales job. If you are good at sales and recruiting, you will do well with them.

If they had a product that was better than anything else on the market, they'd be selling it from their website and it doesn't appear that you can even purchase it from their website. I'll stick with my huge can of Maxwell House for 5.99.
