7-11 Big Gulp Sprite Drink Text Win Contest

It appears that there may be an opportunity to make a little extra cash off a new contest that just started with Big Gulp cups at 7-11 stores. The contest started August 16 and runs all the way through November 4, 2013. On special Big Gulp cups, there is a text code that, according to the cup, "could win a trip to New Orleans hottest concert in 2014." The cup has a url for contest rules and exact prizes, but it currently doesn't work for me (http://SpriteURL.com/7Erules)

So, how can this get you money? The person that made quite a bit of money on the McDonalds Monopoly game emailed me that he has been collecting the cups and selling the codes on Craigslist for about $0.25 each. While he isn't sure that price will hold (it's bound to fluctuate as the contest becomes better known), he expects to make a minimum of several hundred dollars off this contest selling the codes on Craigslist and eBay.

If you have a 7-11 near you, collecting these might be worth checking out.

I noticed this taking place when I stopped to buy gas this morning and went inside to get some coffee. I thought there might be an opportunity like this because the prize is for a concert that may have a lot of people wanted to get into. I'll see if I can save a few of these cups I see scattered around my area. This whole idea of using contest and games as a way to generate extra income intrigues me.

Interesting idea. But, I don't think picking old cups out of the trash or off the ground to make a few bucks is worth my time and effort.
