Make Money with your Driveway

I thought this was an interesting concept and unique way to make money -- if you live in a city or area where parking is limited, sell a spot on your driveway or in your garage. This can also be done if you have a large event that takes place near your home where parking is at a premium when that event takes place.

You can do this yourself (what I would probably do since you could get a better price if you know the demographic looking for spaces) or there is also a website online called ParkAtMyHouse that can make it less difficult to find someone to rent your driveway space. You could also do CraigsList ads.

While some claim that they can earn several hundred dollars doing this, I would expect that most people wouldn't earn all that much -- but even an extra $25 - $50 a month could be nice if it's something that wouldn't be used otherwise. Anyone ever try anything like this?

We've never done it as we don't live in a location where anyone would care to park, but I've seen it done many other places near big fairs, festivals, concerts, etc. I'm sure those folks do well, especially if it is something they get to do multiple times per year.

This seems to be a great way to make money and one doesn't need to invest much as well! Thanks lorraineb... I'm seriously considering using this option.

I've seen it done many other locations near big exhibitions, celebrations, events, etc. I'm sure those people do well, especially if it is something they get to do many periods per season.

Why do you keep reposting the responses of others (while changing a few words) in numerous threads?

I don't live close enough to do this, but many people here who live in the neighborhood that the Indianapolis Motor Speedway is in rent out their driveways and front lawns for parking for the Indy 500 and the Brickyard 400 races. Some even rent out rooms in their house. I think I'd be a little skeptical doing that.
