I don't know if it's been mentioned here before, but if you are any good at graphic design you can make a little extra money with Cafepress or Zazzle. Getting sales seems to be best achieved by either hopping on trends really quickly or filling an underserved niche. I made 1-2 thousand a year with Cafepress years ago.
I have also done artwork for Art*O*Mat vending machines. They are ALWAYS needing more art. You get $2.50 per piece when they sell, and they do sell. Plus it's good exposure for your website because you can include a business card or other info about yourself and your art.
