This is one way that I earn a little extra money. When I'm at the bank, I ask if anyone has recently brought in any half dollar rolls. Most people know that dimes and quarters made 1965 and after don't have any silver content in them, and they assume the same is true for half dollars. Except, this isn't correct. Half dollar coins still had silver placed in them from 1965 - 1970, although less of it. 1964 and prior they were 90% silver. From 1965 - 1970 they were 40% silver meaning that they have a value more than face value. People sorting coins often place the 1965 - 1970 half dollars into rolls that they sell to the bank at face value because they don't realize that there is silver content in them. Buy these rolls and you can make some extra money -- the worst that can happen is that you break even and lose nothing.
