    What's your point?

And what do you mean by doing really good?

I find the suggestion of fostering a child as a money making opportunity to be morally repugnant. The decision to be a foster parent should come out if a true desire to help the kids, not to fatten up your household bottom line

I agree with you, Baby_nurse, and only just noticed that this was posted under "Ways to Make Money".

To the OP, educate yourself on foster payments as they are pathetic.

As baby_nurse said, the love of children should be the driving factor to fostering. My wife and I have been foster parents for 4 years and recently adopted 2 siblings after caring for them for 2 years.

The foster care payment for the 2 kids was $782. For a 3 week old and 13 month old.

Do the math on the following. Diapers, formula, daycare, cribs, bedding, clothing, food, toys, monthly photo shoots, sippy cups, high chairs, car seats, pack and play, used up vacation time from work as foster kids dont qualify as dependants when they are sick or have appointments, driving to DR appointments as the kids did not receive prenatal care or immunizations so they were sick alot at first, prepping the house to pass all the inspections (fire alarms work, water not too hot, medicines locked away, buy child gates, outlet plugs, drawer stops, gifts for every birthday.......and I could go on and on.

just to use my kids as an example. They come from multiple generations of poverty and abuse. I can tell you that these kids are smart and just need a chance. Which is what they are getting. They will likely graduate college, a trade school, or serve in the armed forces like I did. They wont be a drag on society living off of food stamps, shelters, and govt housing like their birth parents and their grandparents. What is the value of foster parents to society? I say alot, alot more than $782 a month.

I'm pretty sure you would have a lot better chance of making better money if you were not on disibility with 3 kids! This has to be the worst get rich quick scheme ever!

And if you are getting a fat disability check it is probably because you were making a pretty decent income before and can now no longer do your job - due to disability.

Hard working people that can no longer work due to injury and foster children who have no place to go are not really what I would call 'wasteful spending'. More power to your neighbor if she is living in that situation and considers it the good life.

I think it's morally wrong to foster children for the sake of the money. The best foster parents are the ones who do it for sheer love of children. Any other reason is just selfish if you ask me.
