  • I saw a new one to make money

    A group of young girls was doing this one, and seems like they are doing well at it,

    The have a come to you car detailing. They use your water and electricity, and wash your car and detail the inside, then dry and wax. They do it all in your driveway.

        That's actually a pretty good idea. They have virtually no overhead, since they're using the customer's utilities, except a small amount of capital for the cleaning supplies and starting at $20 is a steal for a detail. I wonder how good the quality is...great business model though. Most people are too busy these days to go to the car wash. I'd pay a couple girls $20 to detail my car at home any day of the week. Way easier and I can get some work done instead of wash my car myself.

          If that's all they're charging, I would hire them. I never have time to do that kind of stuff to my car.

            We already have that, it's called the neighborhood alcoholic.

                @mom-from-missouri

                In my parents neighborhood, there is always some out of work guy asking to wash your car and detail it.

                  OK, gotcha now, but that doesn't mean they are an alcoholic, just because they are out of work....

                    Exactly, maybe he is a budding car washing entrepreneur like the girls.

                      So, I guess I better tell our neighbor, who got laid off when the school district cut some positions at the end of the quarter that he needs to start drinking, because only alcoholics are out of work....He has been mowing, moving hay, and doing other odd jobs to feed his family, pay his mortgage and stay off of public assistance, but evidently that isn't good enough. I'll let him know he has to start drinking, but it will probably take awhile to work his way to alcoholic level, as I doubt he has ever had a drink in his 45 years. Oh, yes, then perhaps he will qualify for public assistance as he will be too drunk to work1 Perfect!

                        Yeah, car washer does not equal alcoholic.

                        Besides, wouldn't we rather see people with addictions earning their way rather than breaking into those cars to steal stuff for resale or to trade for alcohol? There is dignity in working.

                            I think I can use that idea on our coming fund raising activity for your church. I'm excited now to tell about this to my church mates. Thanks for sharing this idea.
