I have used gazelle.com several times to make a little money off old phones. I've made about $100 off of three bad iPhones. They send you a box, and you ship it off to them. They send you status updates all the time to let you know what's going on. It's a great program...

We've used the money to pay down our debt snowball. It all adds up.

    Have you considered ebay?
People buy broken phones off ebay as well and fix them and you wouldn't believe the prices they pay!

Have used ebay as well... The nice thing about gazelle is that they sent me a box with a shipping label, and I just sent it back... Super super easy.

Ebay is great, also see the thread I started about selling books on amazon.

Yes! Don't sell your cell phones to those sites, they will pay you pennies compared to what you can make putting the cell phone on ebay. One popular site (I can't post links yet too new)will only pay you 125.00 max! That is the price I pay for other peoples cell phones before I cash in on ebay. If you are really interested in getting money for your phone then sell it yourself, you will be happy you did.

Actually, I found this to be a pretty good deal. Considering the fact the all of these phones had been water damaged, plus one had a broken screen I think I was paid a fair price.

The nice thing about dealing with them as apposed to craigslist or ebay is that it is a smooth transaction, and it's not dealing with a scammer. You never know what you're dealing with on a site like craigslist. It was quick and painless, and a fair deal.

I think gazelle has changed and doesn't accept all they originally did or only accepts apple products, i forget. Anywho I had an old laptop and I sent it to GETCASHFORLAPTOP.com. They too sent me free packaging and I sent it back and they sent me a check. They just take laptops though.

I got an iphone 5 a little before christmas and listed my 16gb 4s for verizon on cellsolo.com and it sold pretty quickly for just over $300. I checked out gazelle but they only offered me $160 so this obviously wasn't a great offer. luckily the iphone 5 was a gift so the upgrade didn't cost me anything, I made money from it!

I sold my iphone 3GS on a website similar to gazelle but my experience was not as pleasant. I believe the site was called cash for iphones, or something like that. After entering all of my information on the site it quoted me $125. They then sent me a postage paid box so I sent them my iphone. They then contacted me offering a low ball price of $50 saying it had minor scraches, etc. I asked them to send back my iphone and I would pay the shipping back to me. They had held the upper hand being they had my iphone was in their possession. They wouldn't send it back. They upped their offer to $60. I refused to take $60. I also indicated that when I sent them my informtion prior to sending them my iphone I listed my iphone as "fair" condition, not "excellent," and their quote should have reflected $60 if they were only willing to pay $60, not glitter me up with $125. In the end they upped their offer to $75 so I gave in and accepted it. My advice to anyone else, seller beware.

wow - you should post the site so we all know not to use them. I think Gazelle is supposed to be legit though.
