  • Temporary holiday work

This is the time of year when a lot of retailers are in need of temporary help. I recently saw an ad in the Sunday paper for an unnamed retailer at the local mall that was hiring (through an agency) 150 holiday workers, just at this one location. They needed people to start work on Thanksgiving night around 10 pm and continue working all night long, through about 10 am, to prepare for Black Friday sales.

So, a long 10-hour shift and an all-nighter. Pay: $10/hr but hey, it's quick cash.

There are lot of opportunities available for temporary work. But most of the times, companies prefers to get their work on contract basis. So not necessary such opportunities can be available particularly in holidays duration. It also depends on the company criteria, whether it wants employee for long time or short time.

Then, in January, there are one or two day jobs available counting inventory for tax purposes at those same places. The hours can be long for those two days because they have to get a sometimes huge job done under a deadline.
