  • Donating Plasma

At a place called BioMat, here in Boise, ID, people can go in and donate blood plasma, in return for a cookie and some cold cash. If you donate the maximum number of times allowed per month, you can earn a little bit more than $200/mo.

I always forget about this one! And it has to be the absolute easiest! I plan on doing so sometime this week.

Keep in mind, you need to be a well-hydrated individual. If you have too much iron or protein in your system, they will not take your sample. Also, too low in iron or protein and they won't take it either. If you decide to do this, PLEASE do this more than once, as I have heard that they cannot use your plasma until they have three samples of it. Keep in mind, the initial visit will take MUCH longer than the following ones. It can take up to an hour just for the different things they have to do (urine analysis, blood analysis, paperwork, approval/disapproval), in addition to the wait time. Usually, these clinics are pretty full of people, especially in today's economy.

When my wife is done breastfeeding, she plans on doing this with me. An xtra $400/mo is a substantial amount to complement your income.

See if a BioMat is near you! Chances are, there is! -- BioMat Donor Locations

I think if you are getting money for a "donation" than it is not a "donation." Am I wrong?

BTW, I just saw something about breastmilk selling for $2/ounce or something.

I personally like to donate blood, but if I Was hard up for cash I would absolutely sell blood and/or plasma.

P.S. I guess it is interesting their website does call it "donation."

Well I've donated a kid's jacket in order to get $50 off a set of tires for a vehicle before. We went to Burlington and get a $5 Ralph Lauren kids jacket and got the discount. Still a donation.

They only need two donations to use your plasma but they do need two or they have to throw it out.Something else people should be aware of Donating plasma is a lot like giving blood in the restrictions they have.If you cant donate blood you cant donate plasma. My veins are to small so they wont let me do it.But its a reasonable way to make a little extra cash.In a larger city like mine, San Antonio, there are multiple plasma centers and they compete for donors by offering more money or extra incentives. People should be aware of the effects of donating plasma and the preparations you should take.I used to do it all the time, Im not sure why they think my veins are to small now Im pretty sure they didnt shrink. Anyway though the day before your donation you should drink lots and lots of water and also eat low fat.Im not sure why exactly but if you eat a lot of fatty foods before the donation the whole process takes longer. When your finished with the donation you may feel nauseous and a little woozy, so its best if you have a little snack you can eat before you drive home.I would take a piece of fruit and a granola bar or something similar. Remember giving plasma is very important life saving drugs are made from plasma. You might feel physically bad for a short bit but its well worth it for the extra money as well as the good deed.

Fat intake tends to do not-so-good things on the blood.

And thank you for providing further information! I'm sure people will find it useful. Going to donate plasma sometime this week. Another busy week for me!
