  • My new business & ebay

I am slowly acquiring materials for my new business. I am a CPR instructor and am branching out on my own. I will keep my training center (for liability reasons). In the past, to teach a class I have to reserve and borrow their equipment. It is a 90 minute drive each way to borrow and return it. So, thanks to ebay, I have been buying my own equipment. So far, I have 3 manikins. I need one more, and 2 AED trainers, plus the videos. That will enable me to teach 4 students at a time. I can add more manikins and trainers and I find decent used ones.

I have found very nice manikins for as low as $20 plus shipping. Same ones, in the books, are $175 plus shipping. I have 2 infant ones now, and one adult, so need one more adult one. The fancy bags you carry them in run from $50 to $75, but I can make one for around $20.

So far, I have spent around $110 and bought 3 (and that includes the shipping as well). I need to spend around another $250 to get the videos and trainers.

    My rates are as follows:
$35 gets you CPR/AED for adults and infants
$10 more also gets you first aid

I don't know about your area but around my town, some of our larger volunteer fire departments have the mannequins for the training. I wonder if they may let you borrow them when you are training?

      Sounds like a great plan!

I am a firefighter. We have 2 depts in our county and neither have them. In fact, only a handful of us know CPR and are certified. Scarey, isn't it....We don't have a paid dept for 19 miles....

What a great idea! As far as start-up costs go that's cheap!
