Today our 4H group earned $500 by cleaning up at a dog show, during the show. Basically we walked around, armed with gloves, brooms and shovels. Nothing was touched by hand. We were "pooper scoopers" and kept the restroom trash emptied and towel/TP rollers full.
Evidently, the dog show people look for non-for-profit groups to do this at all their shows. We were not the only group there, but the pay is being split among the groups that were there.
The show is a 2 day event, other groups are doing it tomorrow. When it is over, the final clean up is done by the civic arena cleaning crew.
Not only did we earn $500, but we got into the show for free, so kids who are showing dogs this year could watch how it is done.
Another way, is some arenas and race tracks let people in after the event to clean up the soda and beer cans. Then, you keep the cans to sell. Friends of ours do this 3 times a year at a race track and get several hundred dollars worth of cans each time.
