  • Sell lotions and soaps at craft fairs

Lotions and soaps can be made fairly easily with a blender and often avoid the harmful additives of the mass-produced ones. If you get a booth at a Christmas fair you can probably cover your Christmas gift for this year by selling them!

I worked for a small skin care company for about four years, lotions and soaps are very easy to produce in a kitchen, a hand blender works best to mix the ingredients. Make sure you formulations are accurate though, too much oil or water and not enough wax as an emulsifier will cause your lotions to separate. Soaps can be dangerous depending on what you are using to create the lather, most soaps use sodium hydroxide mixed with water, which is highly corrosive and can cause horrible chemical burns when it gets in contact with skin. All in all a great idea but I would suggest doing research before committing to ingredient and supply purchases (i.e. investment).

Check out the ROI for incense sticks - bottle of oil and a thousand punks (remember that old name?) comes in under $15 and you can sell 10 incense sticks for a buck.

Now that is a frugal way to earn some money and anyone can soak incense sticks (way to bring it back with punks, btw ) and depending on the "rarity" or uniqueness of the oil you are using you could probably earn a lot more per batch.
