I still think you'll do just fine with a factory refurb that can be had for as little as $400. However, for 1K, I must admit that the Macbook just glows with sex appeal. There's an Apple store near me, and whenever I'm there, I can't help but fondle one.

If you can't buy the book as used from an online service like amazon, and you can't buy it used from the bookstore, try the library! Rent the book from the library and you won't have to pay anything. Try your campus library, and try local libraries. That book is SOMEWHERE.

You could also try posting a "I NEED TO BUY THIS BOOK FROM YOU" flyer across campus. If it's a large campus, and you've made enough flyers then you'll probably find a buyer. Oh yeah! A good place to post flyers for a psychology book is in the psychology department - duh, but some people still forget. I would also suggest talking to the professors of the courses and asking them if they have any extra books for that class that you can 'borrow'.

You could also NOT buy a macbook and get a 450 dollar brand new Dell laptop instead.

Consider buying your food online. There are lots of ways to save - especially on cutting on sales tax - if you buy your foor online.

I am in college now. I would recomend buying books online. half.com. I save atleast half by buying that way. Also I would definitely recomend the laptop. It makes life a lot easier. Getting a Mac. I wouldnt but it is all personal preference. I love my IBM thinkpad T42.
