I can't remember how many original installments there were, but they are rerunning all of them on this weeks Oprah show.

If you didn't catch it the first time this is a good way to see what it was all about.

Thanks katwoman! I believe it was five shows in all. This is a better way to view the shows as the original shows came on every two weeks or so.

Yes, I missed this series the first time around so I am DVRing them this week. I just watched today's show - wow! I am glad I am not starting with as much debt as these couples...of course, I am also not making anywhere near the amount of income they are either!

I'm not able to record TV shows -- no VCR, DVR or Tivo -- but I went to Oprah's website and saw that this series is available on DVD for $30. For those who have seen it, would it be worth buying?

I'd put that $30.00 towards your own debt; afterall that is what the show is all about.

I feel message boards like this one and http://www.ihatedebt.com (among others) are just as good and come to your free of charge!

I certainly wouldn't spend $30 for the shows. If you are in debt, apply it to your debt. Or perhaps use it to buy a couple of the books written by the experts on the show. "The Automatic Millionaire" by David Bach is a great one. Jean Chatzky has a couple of good ones too. Of course, I wouldn't buy those either. I'd borrow them from the library and use the $30 for paying down debt.

I have to agree with Ima. The women shown on this series really make our gender look bad...especially stay at homes! Sheesh. They make it look like they have nothing to do all day but shop, and I although I am not a SAHM I know that is not the norm.

AAGGHHH. I really dislike, hate is strong word, but when people feel they are 'entitled' to something or 'deserve' something I have a hard time not wanting to lash out and tell them a thing or two....but I know it would do no good. They will not learn they will not see until they choose to.
Please, those out there that feel that way, tell me what make you more 'special' then I that you are entitled or deserve things without having to work for them or earn them. Or feel that I should have to work or earn them for you!

Boefixepa, of course you won't get an answer to that question here, none of those people hang out on a forum such as this!

I want tomention that in my life I have run into more men than women who had that entitlement attitude--men who just buy whatever they want regardless of the effect on their finances, family, and marriage.

I know how you feel boe, some people feel entitled to free food, medical , housing, etc. My friend works for one of the housing authority places and it makes her sick. They get a place to live for about $1 a month, but they have fancy clothes, cell phones, etc.

Well I am going to disagree with most on this one. I think the series is worth watching and possibly purchasing, especially if you have friends and family who would also benefit from them.

I find watching stuff like that highly motivating. We are all at different stages of our journey and what may not benefit one person may benefit another.

On the other hand, I don't always agree with David Bach. I think buying a house with an 80/20 loan is a really bad idea, but he thinks it is great!

One size does not fit all.

When the series first aired, he had just released his latest book, "The Automatic Millionaire Homeowner" touting the theory that the only way for the average person to truly get rich is through real estate. I read the book and I think he makes some good points, but makes the process sound much too easy.
