This person paid off $180K in credit card debt.
Just some motivation to the lurkers
Today, after 14 years of racking things up, I paid off $180,000 in credit card debt. How did we get here? I don’t know. I make really good money but it was never enough for my obligations. I also like nice things. I told no one. No. One. And I had a business event that brought in a huge check so I went through all my apps, card by card, 9 to be exact, and zero balanced those motherf*ckers so fast.
I have been working so hard in my career to get to each next level just for this. When I would get bonuses of $50K or $70K it was never enough to even put a meaningful dent in my debt. I needed a major hit and stayed laser focused. I regret the years I missed out on saving but I intend to keep hustling in my career and I will never, ever let this happen again. $180K is insane. The first time I totaled it up to $150K I actually passed out.
I felt years of agony and stress just leave me empty. I feel I have a new concept of money now, a chance to reset. Absolutely no desire to spend any money because it weighed me down for so long. I dreamed of a simple life where all I have is a monthly mortgage payment and my utilities and food. Finally the time has come.
For anyone out there, just hold on and keep your grind going. Believe in yourself know you can get out of any insane situation if you stay the course. 14 years of accumulating $181,000 (to be exact) of credit card debt and most of it in the last 3 years. I’ve never been CC debt free since I was 18. I’m now 39.
EDIT: For everyone in the comments saying that this isn’t the reality for most people in debt, this wasn’t my reality for 14 years!!! I’ve been visiting this sub looking for hope for so long. I had no idea I’d be invited into an equity scenario. Only hope. For YEARS I crumbled in secret under the weight of the debt. All I could do was pursue more career progress that might lead to gains.
