A few ways to save by doing some basic car maintenance yourself:
Tire rotation / seasonal swap (summer tires -> winters and vice versa) is super easy and you should know how to do it anyways in case you have to change a flat. Having a breaker bar for stubborn nuts is a good idea.
Air filters (engine and cabin) are super easy. Windshield wipers are super easy.
Oil change is easy if you have basic tools -- jack stands (DO NOT GET UNDER A VEHICLE HELD UP BY A JACK, you MUST use jack stands!), a ratchet set,, oil filter wrench (kinda optional but good to have when you need it), oil pan (can literally just be any plastic container to catch the oil), funnel.
Brakes (pads and rotors) are easy if you're even moderately mechanically inclined. After you have the tire off (see tire rotation / seasonal swap above), it's only another 4 bolts. In addition to the tools for the oil change, you need something to compress the caliper (I usually just do it with a C-clamp), grease (for the slide pins), and brake cleaner.
