they won't go for a $300 phone, they balked at the price of these and I had to talk them into them. They originally wanted to go back to old flip phones, which are actually kind of expensive these days, which is how we ended up with the $1 smartphones in the first place. My parents aren't cheap but they don't get that tech stuff costs money. It used to be my brother and I would buy them tech presents but I just can't do that anymore. So if they want a phone they can actually answer, they're gonna have to pony up a little dough.

my mother would die if she knew what I paid for my 6s (with a trade in) and I will never tell her. She loves her iPad so I'm excited because once she gets that it's just a smaller iPad, she should be very happy.

That's what my wife got. She didn't want the bigger size phone so it was really her only choice.

For years, the phone companies trained us that phones were free. All we needed to do was sign up for a 2-year contract. Now, they've decided that contracts are no longer a good idea for some reason. Instead, we have to pay full price for the phone but we're not locked in for any period of time. I fail to see how that is better for me but obviously it's better for the company.

If your mom has an iPad, she already knows how expensive Apple products are. But she also knows how good they are. I totally agree with selling her the iPhone as being a small iPad, which is true, that can also make phone calls (which technically she could do with her iPad as well but only on WiFi).
