    For every $40 I put into my gas tank, I match with a box of cigars. Low gas prices were a b!tch.

      A couple of years ago, my company went to yearly 401(k) matches. If you're not employed on 31-Dec, you're SOL for the match.

        Is there any special provision for the year you retire if you are 65 or older? Or, can you only retire on 1 Jan in order to receive the full match for the final year?

          That's a good question, which I've thought of, but don't have an answer. Fortunately, I've got a late year birthday, and age 65 isn't looming...
