  • Do you Aflac?

I have had Aflac for two years with an accident policy. I have spent over 1000$ in premiums and never needed it. This week I canceled it and found out I can redeem a generic wellness visit reimbursement you are allowed once a year of 60$, so I should get a check of 120$ in a week or two. It isn't a bad plan, but at this rate i would have been better off saving the money in an account. I have small kids so I figured it would benefit but not at this rate.

    Anybody use aflac?

I see the commercials all the time but I'm honestly not quite sure what it is. I'm assuming it is some sort of disability insurance. If so, I already have a disability policy through another company.

Aflac has different policies, but basically, they are an odd kind of supplement company that pays you directly when you need medical or some other assistance. They cover cancer, accident, etc. In my case with the accident policy, if I went to the dr from an accident they would have paid me cash based on the criteria of the visit. They are not insurance. They just pay cash for different things. Doesn't matter if you are 100% covered by insurance or you only pay 10$ for the ER visit, they will give you money based on what it qualifies for. A cut that needs stitches was several hundred in cash. My insurance would have covered an ER visit for that so I would have pocketed a lot. But, thankfully, I didn't need it and felt like I was hitting the point of diminishing returns. They also do disability.

Do they have a policy to protect against loss of income?

Not due to injury, just companies downsizing?
