  • First paycheck from my new job!

I realized that yesterday was the check date for the pay period for my new job. I signed up for direct deposit but I wasn't sure if the first check would make it into the account or if I'd receive a check. When I didn't get a check in today's mail, I logged into my account and sure enough, the check had been deposited Thursday night.

As it turns out, they neglected to pay me for the 14 hours of computer training I did but I did get paid for my orientation day (8 hours) and the first 2 shifts I worked (another 8 hours) so 16 hours total. I have to email the manager and let her know about the missing hours. I assume they'll add them to the next check.

Still, though, I was excited to get my first check. That makes the job more real now. And since I'm still working full time at my regular job, this is really extra money at this point. I'm going to get DW's van paid off first and then go from there.

Congrats! When is your goal to get the van paid off?

It'll be paid off with the August payment most likely. We only owe $1,700. I might do it in July but we'll be on a 2-week vacation in July so I need to leave money free for that.
