  • Does anyone know about a no fee reloadable prepaid credit card?

I know this may sound a bit odd. But been thinking about this, mainly for security reasons. (aka, to keep my money safe online. Some sites I trust, like Amazon, but if I was trying a new online store, or buying Playstation Store points directly I'd rather NOT use my debit card! Sony has been hacked too often)

Would anyone have any advice on finding such a thing? I don't want to pay a monthly fee or anything, I don't think you should just to cover your fluffy little tail and prevent thieves from getting any more than was on the card...(I only want to load money on it, of course, when I'm buying something..)

Citi bank card has a virtual card number program that can generate virtual acocunt numbers, $ limit, and exp dates for online transactions. Search for "virtual account number" on their online banking site.

Another idea is to use Visa/Mastercard/paypal online payment. They provide only a token to the merchant and not your card numbers.

The advantage of the above (instead of your suggestion of loading money) is that you don't have any money stuck there. You also get the credit card float.

Why not just use a rewards credit card?

To be honest, since my income's really irregular, I haven't had a real credit card in years. Only a debit card (which is why I wanted to look into such a thing)

I'll look into using Paypal or Visa pay, and I'll ask my credit union if there's such a thing as disposable numbers or a prepaid THEY finance. That might be a better option. ^^
