How far are you willing to commute for a job?
My job is 30 miles from where I live. The commute is better now that the freeway has been widened (it cut about 10 minutes off my once 50 minute commute) and the drive does give me a chance to shake off the morning haze. Then again, it sucks when I get off work but realize that I won't really be done with the work day until I get home after a 40 minute drive. I keep telling myself I should move, but I'm too lazy on the weekends to find a new place.

For us, we have to sell a house, take the new schools into consideration, buy a new house, and it isn't just a "find a place over the weekend" thing. That would make it far easier.
You SHOULD move!

When I was younger I used to commute nearly an hour each and boy it nearly killed me! I did it for about 8 years until finally my wife sat me down and said that she thought it was detrimental to my health. It was for a great job though so we actually ended up moving house to be close to my work. This brought it down to just 15 minutes (max) each way and the difference was really remarkable! I think anything up to half an hour is fine but I wouldn't go much above it.

My commute is up to five minutes which is how long it might take me from bedroom to downstairs office now that my chair climber is dead. My last job was about a 45 minute commute to the office, but on days that instead of going straight to the office, I would have to drive up to 2-3 hours or more depending on traffic and weather. I am so glad not to be forced to drive in snow and blizzards anymore for work, they are the pits. If those long commutes would involve more than one day of work, then I had to stay overnight at a nearby hotel. The only good thing about those long commutes, was subtract my normal mileage to the office for the drive to the facility I was going to and would get paid mileage and the time I was driving and got a per diem amount for food as well. The money still didn't make up for the blizzards though.
