I opened a bank account at Bank ABC, which performed a hard credit check.
Three days later, I also decided to open a credit card account at the same bank, Bank ABC.
I now have two hard credit checks on my credit report, when it should have be just one. I blame this on the Bank's IT, which should know if they have a recent credit report on file rather than make another hard check.
I was told by one of the bank associates that because the credit checks were within less than a month apart at the same institution, I could get one of them removed.
The credit score company's website says it's for disputing unauthorized credit pulls. Technically, I did authorize both of the pulls, but my understanding was that they'd use my recent credit check (pulled just 3 days before) instead of requesting a new one.
Can I dispute / get one of the hard checks removed?
