Sorry but I hate when people throw this supposed statistic out. It isn't true. It's never been true. The fact is that the divorce rate peaked in the late 70s and has been steadily falling ever since, and even at its peak, it wasn't 50%. That "stat" came from a misinterpretation of data and somehow got repeated so many times that it came to be seen as truth.

About half the total marriages end in divorce but some people get divorced many times. About two thirds couple never get divorced. I think those are the real stats.
