  • Amazon Credit Card

Does anyone have the Amazon Credit Card? What are the pros and cons?

I'm going to look into that today and see about getting one. We pay off our credit cards every month and carry no balances.

Currently we have a Discover with no annual fee that gives us 5% cash back on select purchases throughout the year up to a limit at 1% cash back on everything else.

    Thanks in advance!

      Like.

We've had this card for a decade. Very happy with it - we use it for everything and every month we get points back on Amazon to help support our expensive Amazon habit.

As with most rewards cards, I think the interest rate is high, but it doesn't affect us since we pay off the balance monthly. Chase service has always been very good too.

Lately I've been thinking of supplementing it with the Amex Blue Preferred so we can get 6% back on groceries. That sounds like a great option too if you spend a lot in groceries, which we definitely do.

We have had this card for a couple years now, and use it for the majority of our credit card purchases.

Just had a fraudulent charge pop up - submitted a "claim" to Chase via the online system, and it was resolved and reversed the next day. First experience with a fraudulent charge on any card, but it was quite pleasant. Only a <5 minute phone call with them to confirm no other fraudulent charges had occurred.

Also, we do "cash back" with reward points now. We had been using points for Amazon purchases (because who doesn't like free stuff??), but realized that actually buying things on Amazon gives you the highest point-earning potential. So it works out more to your advantage to just get the cash back vs using points to buy things on Amazon (numbers-wise...psychologically might not feel as good though!). We have the cash back deposited in our Capital One 360 (formerly ING) account each month*

We have the lime green card and get lots of compliments, so that's fun, too.

I haven't come across any cons to the Amazon card!

*We do use an old Capital One card (that gives 1.5% back on all purchases) for things that would qualify for the Amazon 1% (probably not a huge deal, but it feels better, ha!). The cash back for this comes as either a statement credit or they MAIL a PAPER check that we then deposit. A little less convenient, but we can deposit it via the Capital One 360 app.
