  • Petty Cash/Emergency Fund Tracker

One thing I've learned from reading here is to have an emergency fund separate from savings account and regular expense accounts.

So I've taken the good advice and I've set up a starting $1,000 petty cash fund account.

All loose change and other savings will go in but petty cash/emergency expense will go out.

My "Emergency Reserves" include several components:
    -- one-year's expenses in a savings account
-- one year's health insurance deductible maximum in another savings account
-- emergency on-hand cash in the house
-- and $300,000-plus in available revolving credit
-- plus a five-figure "discretionary fund" that is available for surprise expenses but not set to any particular dollar amount

I have written several blog articles detailing my reasoning on the health insurance, the emergency reserves plan, the discretionary fund and the massive available revolving credit. All those articles can be readily found in my blog here at SavingAdvice.
