  • [Q] Geek Squad Insurance Problems

    Hi,

My son recently had his HTC One X stolen and seeing as we had Geek Squad max mobile insurance taken out I though I would claim it. So firstly I gave Geek Squad (via Carphone Warehouse) a ring and told them the incident number and then the police took a statement and gave me a crime reference number treating it as a crime (theft).

I rang up geek squad the next day to tell that that the police where treating it as a s crime and to supply them with a crime reference number to which they replied that they needed to do their own investigation and that it could take a while, when I asked who long they said it could take months.

So that's why I'm here, is there anything I can do to force them to give me a replacement as my son really needs a phone as he's going to university and we've been paying an extra £14.99 for the past 7 months for nothing as well as the premium.

    In short:

Is there anything I can get Geek Squad to do for a replacement?

Is there a third part I can contact for help?

    Regards,

Call geek squad back up and ask them to escalate it to a manager. What investigation are they going to possibly do? Be polite, but inquisitive, and don't be afraid to push a bit. Inform them of all the bad press they have online regarding the insurance (and there is a lot of it) and just keep trying to escalate until you get someone who can help you with your problem. If that doesn't work, lean on the place where you bought the phone that partners with Geek Squad, as they may have some leverage to ensure you stay a customer with them.

You really to talk to their highest authority to escalate the problem. That would be the best thing to do. It is not good that you are still paying but you don't have he item.

Yeah I would make a fuss and ask to speak to a manager. They have to resolve this problem for you if they expect to keep your business.
