  • New Tires and finance denial

We have a good ef but needed new tires, this was an urgent need.

We priced tires at various rates: $500.00 all the way to $1200.00

    Got the $700.00.

They offered financing and decided to apply but realized it would take a few days and had the money so paid for it in full.

They ended up sending in the finance app in even though the tires were pif.

We got a letter that stated they denied us.

Reasons: no 'retail' credit card accounts.
several inquiries about our credit score.

We don't carry own credit cards only debit.

We did have inquiries: by an alarm system co. and by AT&T who sent us a statement that our credit rating was so low we would have to give them a deposit or access to auto payments via our bank acct. (turned out that was a mistake and they had to verify our credit and told us to ignore the letter - that we had good credit) but there was yet another enquiry.

Now the tire co. enquiring after we paid for the tires - thanks National Tire & Battery.

One legit enquiry and the others a mistake and not needed.

Now this has affected our credit rating.

I talked to the shop and asked why they sent through the credit app. as my husband was writing a check for a pif purchase.

They had never had anything like this happen before and did not know how to proceed so just let the app go through.

People either have the full amount or don't.
