    Passive income

going a bit against the grain here. I bartend and also have a day job. Bartending while fun and often rewarding is a skill that may take some time to hone. But beyond that it also depends what type of clientele you service and how busy your bar is. The challenge I find with taking on multiple Jobs is that you are trading your time for money. We have to look at the impact that will have on your well being taking on this many jobs. Not discouraging the idea just thinking what if instead you focused on building passive income. There are several means of yielding greater returns and better use of your time that can create income for you that could even replace your annual income currently. Real Estate, Internet Marketing, Entrepreneurship in general. Leverage your skills and teach others what you know. Imagine creating a course online that you could have available as a digital download and sells for say $297 and 1000 people purchase...do the math. I think you have the skills to do something like this based on your post. 2 great reads they may expand on what I'm saying the four hour work week by timothy ferris and the laptop millionaire by mark anastassi. Not suggesting overnight riches either, but building a solid business that runs as a system and in turn does not need you to be present at all times to make money. Cheers and thanks for reading!

Oftentimes, your time will be better spent by improving your career rather than spending all of your energy on the side.

What if you could switch jobs and get a 20-30% raise? That'd be much better than most of the part-time jobs.
This would be a great option but I do not believe I am a good candidate. This position is my entry level one; I have only been here since Jan 2012. Second, soon I will be investing in my 401k (August). Once I begin doing so, I have to be vested with the company for 2 yrs in order to retain that money. Two years is a pretty typical minimum duration for your first position anyway. You can do just one year, but potential new employers for that second position may be turned off by the short turnover time.

@TheMom - yeah you're right, that was a typo. It's merely $500 extra a month or a boost of just 1/8th of my gross income. I don't think this is worth it for me to work something like a retail job. It would have to be bartending or something with less hours and a higher rate such as tutoring (which I think I'm going to try sometime soon).

@jla85 - yeah you're right. I've had plenty of friends and dated a couple girls who bartended. It's taxing on your personal and social time for sure.
