Since switching to using only one tab, the formula is working.

Sorry! hah I've never used Google Docs before, didn't know I needed to 'share' it.

The doc I made uses both the tabs you did. And instead of putting Gas or "Gas" or "Household", I just created reference cells for various types of expenses you have.
